The Common Good:
Necessary for such a time as this!
In this critical hour we need Christian men and women of courage who are morally coherent and do not separate their faith from their participation in every aspect of daily life in the culture into which we have been sent. The struggle we face in an increasingly hostile western culture involves a clash of worldviews, personal and corporate, and competing definitions of human freedom, human dignity, and human flourishing. In his first letter to the Christians in Corinth the Apostle Paul instructed the faithful on the spiritual gifts. He reminded them, “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” (1 Cor. 12:7)
Our cultural mission is a part of what it means for us to be leaven, light and salt as Jesus taught, and to offer the gifts given to us by the Lord to others. We must not retreat from the culture because God still loves the world and still sends His Son into the world, through His Body, the Church, of which all who are baptized are members. In other words, the Risen Lord Jesus continues His work of redemption, through us. (John 3:16, 1 Cor. 12:27)
We invite you to join us. Common Good is a way, a work and a movement which is committed to proclaiming that there is a moral foundation to freedom and that the fullness of truth has been revealed in Jesus Christ, the One sent by the Father to begin a new creation. We reach across the confessional spectrum, bringing Christians together. We are rediscovering what joins us together by experiencing the Holy Spirit leading us into a highest common denominator approach to Christian collaboration. That highest common denominator is the primacy of Jesus Christ. Together, as Christians, we can help to usher in a new missionary age of Christianity.
